To stop apps from running underground on your Android phone, all you need is to restrict any apps that run or work underground, i believed by now you can be able to detect apps that run underground from the above procedure. Now to restrict an application all you need to do,is to scroll Down your phone screen when you at the Data usage stage, tap on a app, and you will see as mentioned before foreground /background ,all you need to do is to scroll down a bit ,you will see a thick box ,mark and press OK.Just like the picture below, you have just stop an application from running underground on your phone. Do the same procedure to any other apps you find out running underground, to enable your data to last long on your devices.By restricting certain apps it will stop to run underground when not in use.

Note :-Some applications may stop to function after restricting it,all you need to do is to unthick the box to allow it to work, as you can not restrict such types of app.If you are the type that make use of Google play store, don't restrict the apps called Google service because if you do ,you won't be able to access your play store ,i hope this help you in restricting apps to stop unnecessary data usage without you noticing....
